Join fellow patriots and fitness enthusiasts for the 10th Annual Memorial Day 5K Hike at Payne Park in downtown Sarasota. This family-friendly community event honors the brave men and women who gave their lives while serving in the United States Armed Forces. The hike follows a scenic 5K route through the heart of Sarasota, starting and finishing at Payne Park.
Participants are encouraged to wear patriotic attire and bring flags or signs of remembrance. Water stations will be available along the route, and a short ceremony will be held at the end to recognize veterans and their families. The event is open to all ages and fitness levels, and proceeds support local veterans’ organizations.
Whether you walk, jog, or run, come out and show your support while enjoying a meaningful and energetic start to the Memorial Day weekend.
Registration Begins: 8:00 AM
Hike Starts: 9:00 AM
Route: The hike will start at JD Hamel War Memorial Park, proceed over the Ringling Bridge, and return to the park.
Post-Hike Activities: Participants can enjoy a cookout, live music, and inflatables at the park.
Advance Donation: $35 (online ticket sales end on May 14, 2025)
Day-of Donation: $40

+Participants aged 21 and over receive an event t-shirt, lunch ticket, and beverage ticket.
+Participants aged 13 to 20 receive an event t-shirt, lunch ticket, and non-alcoholic beverage ticket.
+Children 12 and under participate for free and receive a lunch ticket and non-alcoholic beverage ticket.
This family-friendly event honors fallen heroes and supports local veterans through SRQ VETS, a 100% volunteer veteran-run 501(c)(3) organization.
