Siesta Key Drum Circle
Experience one of Sarasota’s most iconic and free-spirited traditions at the Siesta Key Drum Circle, held every Sunday evening just before sunset on the soft white sands of Siesta Beach. Drummers, dancers, locals, and visitors gather in a vibrant circle to celebrate rhythm, community, and the beauty of nature. Feel free to bring your own drum, join the dancing, or simply relax and enjoy the colorful scene. Family-friendly and open to all ages. No tickets or registration required — just show up and soak in the good vibes!

Gathering starts about one hour before sunset
Drumming and dancing usually continue until after sunset
(Note: Arrival times shift slightly throughout the year depending on sunset times so please don’t make the mistake of thinking the time is 7:30-9:00 PM throughout the year)
Additional Notes:
The circle forms south of the main Siesta Beach Pavilion, near the green lifeguard stand.
Parking is available at the Siesta Beach parking lot (arrive early to secure a spot).
Bring beach chairs, water, and anything you need to enjoy a sunset at the beach.

Siesta Key Independence Day Fireworks
Celebrate the 4th of July with your toes in the sand and a stunning fireworks display over the Gulf of Mexico at the annual Siesta Key Independence Day Fireworks Show. This beloved community tradition takes place on Thursday, July 4, 2025, just north of the Siesta Key Public Beach Pavilion, one of the nation’s most popular beach destinations known for its powdery white quartz sand.
The fireworks display typically begins around 9:00 PM, but visitors are encouraged to arrive early to secure a good spot. Beachgoers start gathering by late afternoon to enjoy the festive atmosphere, which includes live music, food vendors, and patriotic spirit as the sun sets over the Gulf. Many locals and visitors alike bring chairs and picnic setups, turning the evening into a full celebration.
The event is free to attend, though donations to the Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce help fund the fireworks and ensure its continuation each year. Paid parking is available nearby, but it fills up quickly, so shuttle options and ride-sharing are recommended.
This is one of Sarasota’s signature summer events and a must-attend for anyone looking to enjoy Independence Day island-style.

Kids Summer Beach Runs – Siesta Key
Get the kids moving this summer with the popular Kids Summer Beach Runs on Siesta Beach! Hosted by Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources, this family-friendly series offers children ages 1–17 the chance to participate in a 1-mile fun run along the soft white sands of Siesta Key. Each participant earns a finisher ribbon, and those who complete four or more runs receive a free T-shirt and a medal at the end of the series.
Registration is free and takes place onsite starting at 5:30 PM, with the race kicking off at 6:30 PM. Parents are encouraged to cheer on their kids and enjoy the festive beach atmosphere. It’s a great way to stay active, enjoy the Gulf breeze, and build healthy summer habits.
Note: The runs are held rain or shine but may be canceled for lightning or extreme weather. Be sure to bring water, sunscreen, and a smile!

Hosted on the powder-soft sands of one of America’s top beaches, this 1-mile fun run encourages kids of all ages to stay active in a supportive and non-competitive environment. Each child receives a ribbon after every run, and those who participate in four or more races earn a free t-shirt. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m., and the race kicks off at 6:30 p.m. With scenic views and an upbeat community vibe, it’s a great way to stay healthy and have fun all summer long.
